Two Americans Win Nobel Economics Prize

Two Americans, Alvin Roth and Lloyd Shapely, have received the Nobel Economics Prize for their studies on matchmaking when cost is not a factor.  To state simply, the two devised a mathematical formula using game theory analysis for how 10 men and 10 women could be coupled so that no two people would prefer each other more than their two partners.  The formula has since been applied to the National Resident Matching Program for U.S. Student Doctors and the application process for New York City public high schools.
