The Season for Car Discounts/Cancellations
(November 8th, 2007 under Economic News )Chrysler has announced the cancellation of several models, with speculation that more may be on the chopping block. Evidently, the Pacifica, the Crossfire, the PT Cruiser (convertible only for now) and the Dodge Magnum have all been cancelled. Rumors that the large Jeep Commander, which is too close in size to the Grand Cherokee may be next to go. Here is a link to one of several articles on the cancelled models: http://www.motorauthority.com/news/industry/chrysler-cutting-7000-jobs-drops-4-models-but-the-pt-cruiser-remains/ .
In addition to the news of the cancellations (and in part as a result), there is news of several cars that are being deeply discounted. As one might imagine, the cancelled models will likely be hard to sell and therefore will be discounted heavily. In addition to those, there are models which have been significantly updated for 2008 — so the 2007 models languish on the showroom floor. Hence there are some large rebates for those cars as well.
