The Rights to O.J.’s Book Bought by the Goldman’s
July 6th, 2007The Goldman family attorney announced that Ron Goldman LLC held the rights to the canceled book written by O.J. Simpson, If I Did It. The Goldman family had previously won a civil wrongful death case in the amount of $33 million.
“Ron Goldman LLC will own Simpson’s name, likeness, signature and story and will hawk it to satisfy this terrible judgment. Justice has arrived in Miami, Cook said.
The Goldman’s want to rename the Book Confessions of a Double Murderer and plan to shop it around, Cook said.
According to the settlement, the Goldman’s must pay the bankruptcy trustee 10% of the first $4 million in gross proceeds and a percentage of all proceeds beyond that.”
U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Jay Cristal upheld the Goldman’s right to their claim. Judge Cristal also ruled that “the company started by Simpson’s daughter, Arnelle, was set up “to perpetuate fraud.”
