Charges Brought on Bankruptcy Fraud

The Justice Department announced that 78 people have been charged with bankruptcy fraud. Many of the charges stem from investors (some of who are bankruptcy attorneys) searching out desperate homeowners facing foreclosure and wanting to keep there homestead.

New York Racing Association Files for Bankruptcy

Suburban mayor found guilty of bankruptcy fraud

Melvin VanAllen, mayor of Justice, Illinois, a Chicago suburb, was found guilty of bankruptcy fraud on Friday, October 27. VanAllen claims that he is innocent of the charges and an appeal is possible.

The jury found VanAllen guilty of 28 counts of bankruptcy fraud and illegally structuring cash transactions after 7 hours of deliberation. [...]
