University of Houston Law Dean Announces Resignation

(April 19th, 2006 under Announcements)
Message sent on behalf of the dean: To the faculty, staff, and students of the UH Law Center: Given the events of the past week or so, I wanted to confirm that I have resigned as dean, effective May 31. I'll cherish many of the relationships that I have forged over the past six years as your dean. I expect the Provost to name an interim dean soon, and I encourage the entire Law Center community to come together and offer full support not only to the interim leader but also to my eventual successor. With your help, I am certain that this school can continue to achieve great things in the months and years ahead. It's a very human instinct to wonder how history will view my tenure as dean. Although that assessment may be years in the making, today I can tell you with a smile and great confidence that I am very proud of what I've accomplished here. I approached every one of my decisions with a simple goal: to make this school a better place for its faculty, students, staff, and alumni. We have a full agenda of activities over the next few weeks - including our 30th Annual Law Fund Gala & Auction on Saturday night. I hope that you'll join me in making this important fundraiser a resounding success. Thanks to all of you who make this school so very special. Warmest regards, Nancy B.
