Increase Bankruptcy filings in 2005
In calendar year 2005, 40,982 bankruptcies were filed in the Northern District of Texas. This number represents a 25.1% increase in bankruptcy filings from calendar year 2004.
This number includes 1,376 business filings (Chapter 7: 941; Ch. 11: 188; Ch. 12: 13; and Ch. 13: 229) and 39,606 personal filings (Chapter 7: 25,221; Ch. 11: 13; and Ch. 13: 14,372).
Overall, there were 121,202 bankruptcy filings combined in all 4 Texas districts.
