On February 8, 2006, President Bush signed into law the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 (Pub.L. 109-171). Included in the law were increases in bankruptcy filing fees that will take effect 60 days after signing (in other words, April 9, 2006):

Chapter 7 filing fees will increase from $220 to $245, with total fees due at filing of $299. Chapter 13 filing fees will increase from $150 to $235, with total fees due at filing, $274. It also looks like the base Chapter 11 fee may jump from $1,000 to $2,750.

There is not a lot of information available yet - none of the court websites we checked have a new fee schedule posted. We will keep an eye on it and post the updates when they become available.
